levels of curriculum
Principle
Woods provides principle-based stories that encourage social
competence and reading success. Children learn universal principles
including honesty, courage and compassion. These character
traits are internalized as children interact with the lovable
characters that live in Principle Woods. Three distinct reading
levels are addressed through our books and corresponding curriculum.
The early literacy books are named Acorn Readers. The emerging
and transitional books are named Seedling Readers. The independent
reading level books are named Grand Oak Readers.
ACORN
CURRICULUM: This program integrates social and emotional
skills with language arts skills. The acorn reader program
addresses the necessary foundation for young children to communicate
and collaborate effectively. The books are downloadable and
the teacher can make as many copies as necessary. Vocabulary
and concept development is an integral part of every acorn
reader and pro-social skills are woven into many stories providing
students with positive examples to follow. These books are
for children in pre-kindergarten first grade.
SEEDLING
CURRICULUM: Designed
for children in 2nd - 3rd grades, Seedling readers are filled
with beautiful illustrations, short sentences and many high
frequency words. Young children feel much success as they
read the adventures of the lovable characters that live in
Principle Woods. They explore universal principles with supporting
curriculum as they acquire reading skills and develop social
competence.
GRAND
OAK CURRICULUM: Designed
for children in 4th - 5th grades, the Grand Oak curriculum
is based on the Principle Woods Grand Oak readers. Grand Oak
readers are unique in that they are heavily illustrated chapter
books providing readers high interest and high level while
ensuring student success. Fantasy abounds as the lively characters
